I found them!!!!

Can you believe that my car keys have been "lost" for 6 months--since before Addison arrived. I had looked through every purse, bag, jacket, etc, that I could think of and they were no where. I figured that pregnancy brain had finally gotten the best of me and I had thrown them away or something. I gave up on them and even asked Jonathan to order me a new key from the dealership only to find out a new key was $225!!! Needless to say, we did not order the new key.

Last night I was feeding Addison up in my room and little Jonathan came running into the room jingling keys. Guess what keys they were? MY KEYS!!! Yeah!

Guess where they were? In the couch. (Gee... do you think I need to clean under the couch cushions more?)

What we remember...

I saw this quote today and had to make a note of it:

"Children will not remember you for the material things you provided but for the feeling that you cherished them."---Richard L. Evans

I have to remember that when I have a 4 year old crying and screaming at me because I only let her get one (piece of junk) at the Dollar Store instead of two!

Perspective.... Perspective....

Mom! Come see the rooster!

I can honestly say that there has never been a day before in my life that I was sitting at my home when my little guy, Jonathan came running in the house screaming, "Mom, come see the rooster!"

I was having a meeting of the Relief Society presidency at my house during lunchtime and, although, it had seemed like a good idea at the time ("Oh, the kids will just play and we can have our meeting without distractions"), we were being constantly interrupted by loud toys, or needing the be the referee, or getting juice/water/snacks/etc. This seemed like another distraction... but he was so adamant. His chubby, little dirt-covered hand grabbed mine and led me out onto our deck where I expected to find a toy rooster. Instead what I found was a reason to cherish my little Jonathan once again. Strutting out in the yard for me and all my guests to see was a very large turkey (not puffed up like you see at Thanksgiving, but big all the same). And boy was it making a lot of noise. My dear little boy, not knowing how to properly name that bird, had called it a rooster. How endearing. And the reason for it's "clucking"? Ruckus, our cat, was "stalking" it. Apparently, our little Ruckus, who has no front claws, had gotten so confident in his "mousing" abilities that he was graduating to bigger prey. It taught me once again to expect the unexpected.

Addison's Photo Shoot

My friend Beth McHenry who did my maternity portraits came over this week for Addison's newborn photo shoot. Some of her favorites are featured on her blog.

Warning: these pictures may cause yearnings for more babies... view at your own risk :)

Daddy, Daughter Day

Delaney and Daddy got to go on a field trip today to Springhouse Farms. (I'll post farm pix in a minute...) but I LOVE this picture of the two of them having lunch at Delaney's favorite restaurant--Red Lobster. You can tell she REALLY has gotten good at twisting Daddy's arm to go there.

Can I blame it on pregnancy brain?

I remember thinking.... "how can anyone be so dumb as to lock their keys in the car?". I did one better... I locked my keys and my 2-year-old in the car today at the gas station. I still don't know how I did it, but I did it. My first thought? Call my neighbor... they can bring me my second set of keys in a few minutes... but wait! My cell phone is in the car. I have no idea of their phone number. Now what. Luckily, I picked the gas station next to the Car Detailing/Extreme place and they had the tools to get in, along with another good Samaritan who happened to be pumping gas at that time. Crisis averted. Jonathan thought it was a game as Mommy smiled at him through the window. Check that off my "to-do" list of dumb moves in my lifetime.

What has she done to the cat?

Boy, do you think Delaney is ready for a baby sister?

Letting go... and letting the dirt in

I had to let go today... let go of all my squeamishness about the kids getting muddy...
It was an unusually warm day today...but very muddy since the 8+ inches of snow we had last week melted rapidly leaving us a yard filled with muddy holes and dog poo (thanks, Bailey :)).
But I gritted my teeth and just let them be kids.
That's what baths and washing machines are for, right?

A rare moment of sibling love...

"Are those your school shoes?" Yes... just grin and bear it, Mommy

"Look how big I am!" He couldn't begin to reach the handles last year!

I dare not tell you how much Disney charges for facepainting... but the results were priceless. They looked so darn cute!

A little rain won't hurt anything when you're this determined!

We couldn't keep them out of the pool--even though it was pouring down rain and cold! Delaney is getting so brave in the water and little Jonathan just has NO FEAR, which is scary for Mommy!
Today is only 50 degrees and windy so we are hanging out relaxing--but no pool!

Swimming Madman!

Our little fish!

Gobbles? Check!

Our little guy was so excited to get to the pool...even though it was only 60 degrees out and pouring down rain. Thank goodness the pool was heated! Sending our love from Disney!
